There a several different types of weaves used in luxury bed linens.

  • Twill, jersey knit, flannel and even oxford cloth.

We think it is safe to say, the two most popular weaves are percale & sateen.

  • Shown below is a percale weave, it is a one thread over and one thread under weave. Similar to the pot holders many of us made as kids.
  • Percale bed linens offer that crisp (but soft) feel or hand.

Percale weaves offer that cool crisp, velvety feel to the touch

  • Sateen (not satin) weaves are made on a Jacquard loom. As illustrated below, some threads are often skipped, for example, one thread under, two threads (or more) over.

Sateen Bed sheets offer that super soft silky feel

Solid sateen sheets or sheets with intricate designs are made on a Jacquard loom, these include tone on tone designs such as stripes, floral or other designs.

  • A sateen fabric has a silky hand or feel. Sateen sheets also have luster to them.

At Vero Linens, we offer both luxury percale and sateen linens in both our  sheets and duvet covers.
