Why use a Mattress Pad & what to look in your next one!

Mattresses are expensive and let's face it, sometimes they are exposed to stuff that you would rather not think about. Even if they are not exposed to stuff, body oil from your skin can leach through your sheets and soil your mattress.
Bottom line, mattresses are difficult to clean so you will want to protect it.
Mattresses are often made with a durable, but coarse fabrics. Even if you have the softest bed sheets on earth, you will feel the stiffness of these ruff coarse fabrics through your fitted sheet.
Many mattresses are also tufted, so the surface is uneven and not smooth . A mattress pad can help smooth out this surface.
We have also noticed that for some reason, a few mattress manufacturers are making them with black fabric. We have even seen some purple ones out there, and these dark color mattresses will show through light colored bed sheets.
So, these are all good reasons to protect or cover your mattress with a mattress pad.
Now if you are thinking about purchasing a new mattress pad, we think you should consider our super soft and plush mattress pad found here.
There are a few different styles of pads, here are some of the popular styles.
Felt Pad -
A thin felt pad like the one shown below doesn't offer much in the way of absorption, should it come in contact with a liquid. Because it is not secured in any way, it is prone to slip or move around under the fitted sheet.
Mattress Pad With Straps -
A Mattress pad with corner straps does offer a little more stability but is still prone to shifting.
Foam Mattress Topper -
Foam mattress pads can be soft. However, they don't breathe well so they can be hot to sleep on and they are impossible to clean.
Quilted/skirted Mattress Pad -
We think this is the best design. The pad is secured to the mattress with a skirt that fully encapsulates the head, foot, and sides of the mattress, the pad is quilted, so it offers a nice padded softness and plush feel to the top of the bed.
It is also washable and for the most part inexpensive.
